China's packaging machinery started relatively late, starting in the 1970s when the Beijing Commercial Machinery Research Institute studied Japan's packaging machinery. After more than 20 years of development, China's packaging machinery has become one of the top ten industries in the mechanical industry, providing strong support for the rapid development of China's packaging industry. Some packaging machinery has filled the domestic gap and can basically meet the needs of the domestic market. Some products are also exported. The import volume and total output value of packaging machinery in China are roughly equivalent, which is far from developed countries.

The filling method is almost applicable to all materials and various packaging containers. Specifically, for liquids, powders, and loose particles with good flowability, the packaging process can be completed mainly by relying on their own gravity, supplemented by certain mechanical actions if necessary. For semi fluid or large single or composite components with strong viscosity, corresponding mandatory measures such as squeezing, pushing, and picking up and placing are required. As for the wrapping method, it is different from this. It is mainly suitable for single or composite parts with a regular appearance, sufficient rigidity, and a requirement for tight packaging. Flexible plastic and its composite materials (some with additional lightweight pallets and lining plates) are often used for wrapping with the help of mechanical action.
