Sealing machines represent the optimal final step in product packaging; therefore, their routine maintenance and protection must not be overlooked. I. Equipment Protection and Maintenance Proper use and protection of equipment constitute the primary component of equipment management. This involves operators and maintenance personnel carrying out a series of protective measures in accordance with the equipment’s technical documentation, operational parameters, and maintenance guidelines—measures that are also an objective requirement for the equipment’s proper functioning. Equipment protection and maintenance encompass daily preventive maintenance (Level 1), lubrication and scheduled oiling and oil changes, preventive testing, periodic precision adjustments, and Level 2 and Level 3 maintenance. The quality of such maintenance directly affects equipment performance, product quality, and overall production efficiency. (1) Equipment Inspection Equipment inspection is an effective means of promptly assessing the technical condition of equipment and implementing condition-based monitoring and maintenance; it forms the foundation of maintenance work. Through regular inspections, potential hazards can be identified and eliminated in a timely manner, thereby preventing sudden failures and accidents. It is a critical task for ensuring the normal operation of equipment. (2) Daily Inspection Daily inspection involves operators conducting technical condition checks on all equipment components according to prescribed standards, primarily relying on sensory observation, in order to promptly detect faults and take corrective action, thus minimizing downtime and associated losses. For key equipment, inspections should be carried out by operators at each shift or at predetermined intervals. (3) Level 2 Maintenance This level of maintenance is mainly performed by operators, with maintenance technicians providing support as needed. The maintenance interval may be determined based on the equipment’s operating environment and conditions; for example, for metal-cutting machinery, it might be set at 400–600 operating hours. The downtime and maintenance man-hours can be calculated using a complexity factor of 0.5 per unit of equipment. (1) Automatic sealing machines should be placed in a well-ventilated, dry location; room temperature around 25°C is generally sufficient. (2) Dust should be removed regularly; when not in use, unplug the power cord, cover the machine, and keep it clean. (3) If the machine has been running for an extended period, turn on the cooling switch before shutting it down. (4) High-temperature zones should be cleaned of dirt on a regular basis and any accumulated grime replaced promptly to ensure sealing quality. (5) Severely worn parts should be replaced in a timely manner to extend the service life of the entire machine. II. Equipment Repair During operation, certain components of equipment may suffer wear, corrosion, burnout, deformation, or other forms of damage, which can adversely affect the equipment’s accuracy, performance, and production efficiency. While proper operation and meticulous maintenance can reduce such damage and prolong equipment life, wear and tear are inevitable under normal operating conditions—this is an objective law of nature. Therefore, in addition to proper use and maintenance, it is essential to replace, repair, or upgrade worn components and to implement appropriate inspection plans to restore the equipment’s accuracy and performance, thereby ensuring product quality and enabling the equipment to deliver its intended effectiveness.

  I. Protection and Maintenance of Equipment
 
  Proper use and protection of equipment are the primary components of equipment management. They involve a series of protective measures carried out by operating personnel and specialized technicians in accordance with the equipment’s technical documentation, parameter specifications, and maintenance guidelines, and they also represent an objective requirement for the equipment’s proper operation.
 
  Equipment protection and maintenance encompass routine preventive maintenance (Level 1 maintenance), lubrication and scheduled oiling and oil changes, preventive testing, periodic precision adjustments, and Level 2 and Level 3 maintenance. Proper protection and maintenance directly affect equipment performance, product quality, and overall production efficiency.
 
  (1) Equipment Inspection
 
  Equipment inspection is an effective means of promptly ascertaining the technical condition of equipment and carrying out condition monitoring and maintenance; it is a fundamental aspect of maintenance. Through inspection, potential equipment hazards can be identified and rectified in a timely manner, thereby preventing sudden failures and accidents and ensuring the normal operation of equipment—a critical task in maintaining operational readiness.
 
  (II) Routine Inspection
 
  Routine inspections are conducted by operators in accordance with prescribed standards, primarily relying on sensory perception to assess the technical condition of all equipment components, so as to promptly identify potential faults, implement appropriate corrective measures, and minimize downtime and associated losses. For critical equipment, operators shall perform inspections at each shift or at predetermined intervals.
 
  (3) Secondary Restorative Care
 
  Maintenance at this level is primarily operational, with maintenance tasks carried out in support. The maintenance interval may be determined based on the equipment’s operating environment and service conditions; for example, for metal-cutting machines it can be set at 400–600 operating hours. The downtime and maintenance man-hours can be calculated at 0.5 person-hours per complexity factor of the equipment.
 
  (1) The automatic sealing machine should be placed in a well-ventilated, dry location; the ambient temperature can generally be maintained around 25°C.
 
  (2) Dust should be removed on schedule; when not in use for an extended period, unplug the power cord, cover the unit, and keep it clean.
 
  (3) If the operating time is too long, turn on the cooling switch before shutting down.
 
  (4) The high-temperature zone shall be cleaned of fouling on schedule and the seals replaced promptly to ensure sealing quality.
 
  (5) Severely worn parts shall be replaced promptly to extend the service life of the entire machine.
 
  II. Equipment Repair
 
  During the operation of equipment, wear, corrosion, thermal damage, deformation, and other forms of failure in certain components can compromise the equipment’s accuracy, performance, and production efficiency. While proper operation and meticulous maintenance can reduce such damage and extend the equipment’s service life, wear and degradation are inevitable under normal operating conditions—this is an objective law. Therefore, in addition to correct usage and routine maintenance, it is essential to replace, repair, or upgrade worn components and to implement a comprehensive inspection schedule to restore the equipment’s accuracy and performance, thereby ensuring product quality and enabling the equipment to deliver its intended operational effectiveness.
